2012 promises to be a breakthrough year for the Parelli Horsemanship Fund. Our programs, all focused on doing what it takes to make the world a better place for horses and humans, will be swinging into action as the year progresses, and we need your help.The Parelli Horsemanship FundIn helping the world become a better place for horses and humans, we are proud to have the Parelli Horsemanship Fund. It is our vision that the Parelli Horsemanship Fund will help to take the efforts of Parelli to the next level of influencing how horses are respected, trained and treated by donating significant funds into a vehicle by which we can “give back”. Together, as a community we will be helping to find “forever” homes for horses in need, enrich children’s lives through natural horsemanship learning, develop future para-equestrians, and support students all over the world by developing the Parelli Professionals and equine educators of tomorrow. Through financing education, the Parelli Horsemanship Fund can empower people to make a difference for themselves and for horses and humans all over the world. The Parelli Horsemanship Fund will support four major causes the Parelli Community cares most about:Horsemanship for Kids – to help give kids an opportunity to choose a future that includes horses. From Parelli to Pony Club to 4-H to youth clinics and camps, we will help foster the innate natural grace that most children possess when it comes to horses by empowering them to identify and intensify their natural savvy with horses. Scholarships – to help develop future Parelli Professionals and equine professionals. By focusing on the teachers of tomorrow we can rapidly multiply outreach efforts to our other three causes worldwide and put boots on the ground to make quantifiable impact around the globe. When you think about how many individual horse lovers each individual Parelli Professional can help, you begin to understand that our scholarship efforts are not so much about one person as the multiplicative influence these individuals will have in helping others realize their own dreams. Therapeutic Riders – to help support horsemen with disabilities. Be it helping a paraplegic horseman realize their dream of competing at the Olympics, or showing an autistic child the calming effects of a dependable pony, the Parelli Horsemanship Fund will make touchable improvements in the lives of horsemen with disabilities. Unbeknownst to the equine industry, the Parelli Corporation has made a good head start on these efforts already. Over the past three years, while running our campuses on a break-even-only basis, some 400 students have received over $3 million dollars in scholarships from Parelli. Over the past 25 years, we have donated over half a million dollars to therapeutic riding causes and the careers of para-equestrians from profits generated from the sale of our home learning DVD program. But this is just a start, we now wish to formalize our charitable efforts so that with your help, together we are able do even more in the days, months and years to come. The Parelli Horsemanship Fund will be supported in this way: • A portion of proceeds from our new “Benefactor” Level of Membership. • Donations from members, friends, organizations and philanthropists. • Fundraisers. From bake sales to fun days, fundraisers bring the Parelli Community together for the benefit of horses and humans worldwide. • Sales of Parelli Dream Horses. When the time comes to shop for your next horse, consider the Parelli Dream Horse Program as your first stop. The reality of scale Today, 1 in 200 horse owners use the Parelli Program worldwide. When we achieve our next milestone goal and 1 in 100 horse owners worldwide are members of the Parelli Program, we will automatically donate a percentage of all member revenue to the Parelli Horsemanship Fund (in addition to the percentage of Benefactor member revenue we are committing to TODAY).
Like any small business, we have to carefully watch expenses and often have moments where we soldier on through in the face of doubt and economic downturn. Many might read the above aspirations and think we’ve gone a bit mad. Those individuals would make a critical misjudgment however by not realizing the transformative power love, language and leadership has with horses and humans alike and how that love can, and has, changed the world already. So, are we crazy? Maybe. But who would have thought in 1991, when Pat and Linda coined the term natural horsemanship, that today it would be a household term in the equine industry? Who could have guessed that communication with horses could have changed the lives not only of a cowboy from California and a girl from Australia, but for a legion of horse owners worldwide who call themselves part of the Parelli Family? No one can guess, but we can get there, with your help, of that we are certain! Your Support and Involvement Is Critical.

Horse Rescues – to help give misunderstood or neglected horses a future. By providing training for rescue center personnel, donating take-home educational and equipment care kits to adopters and partnering with major rescue and animal welfare organizations, we will help create environments where rescue horses receive the best possible second chance.
Our ultimate goal, with your help is to reach 1 in 10 horse owners worldwide using the Parelli Program. When we reach this goal we will be able to not only educate but also donate significant funds to all of the causes we support. Can you imagine how that would transform the world?!
