Ocala, Florida—Renowned clinicians, Pat and Linda Parelli spent six days training with dressage master, Walter Zettl at their Parelli Center in Ocala, Florida last week. The visit by Zettl to the Parelli Center is the first of six planned for 2006-2007. Despite their incredible success training horses in clinics throughout the United States, the Parellis are always open to learning more from master equestrians. “Walter Zettl is one of the most accomplished masters of classical dressage,” noted Pat Parelli, “We are pleased to have this opportunity to work with him and explore the subtleties of classical dressage training and it’s application to all correct training“. The Parellis had an opportunity to first meet Zettl, at the Premier Equestrian/USDF Adult clinic series in Ocala, FL. Heidi Zorn and Mark Neihart of Dancing Deer Productions producers of Walter Zettl’s A Matter of Trust video series, were also on hand last week for Zettl’s sessions with the Parelli family. The Parelli’s son, Caton, also had the opportunity to work closely with Zettl during his stay. So what is the attraction between these great equestrians from different disciplines? Both parties agreed it is a mutual respect for the horses themselves. Zettl noticed the link immediately when he arrived at the Parelli Center. “My first impression upon arriving at the ranch was the deep love, understanding and respect Pat and Linda have for their horses,” said Zettl. “It doesn’t matter what discipline you participate in. One should play with their horses. The most important message is that we don’t lose respect and love for our horses. Our training should not cause undue stress and anxiety, but rather be fun and playful up to the highest level,” Zettl added. And the Parellis chimed their agreement. In fact, the Parellis refer to their schooling sessions as playing with their horses rather than working them. “The alliance between the Parellis and Walter Zettl is an example of mutual respect, not only between man and horse but between talented professionals,” said Zorn. “We are proud to have been instrumental in our small way.” To discover more about the Parelli educational program and all its possibilities, visit www.parelli.com or call 800/642-3335. |
