For "World Championship of Colt Starting"
In the world of natural horsemanship, the names Cameron and Parelli require no introduction. And when these two great American cowboys roll into Murfreesboro, TN. on March 9th, for the 2012 International Road to the Horse World Championship, it is game on.
Craig Cameron and Pat Parelli, two men who have redefined the whole concept of colt-starting, will work together, competing against world-class horsemen from Australia and Canada, to win the title of "World Champions" for the United States.
"Road to the Horse is the most exciting equine event on the scene today," said Cameron who is looking forward to partnering with Pat Parelli, a man he calls a great horseman and innovator.
Parelli reminds all of us that his partner for the 2012 event is already a past Road to the Horse Champion.
While the event is guaranteed to electrify students of natural horsemanship by the sheer volume of talent and experience on hand, the Road to the Horse event is also an integral part of the natural horsemanship revolution that is sweeping into all corners of the horse industry. Pat Parelli said, in fact, that is the best thing about The Road to the Horse competition. He said the event does for natural horsemanship what the Kentucky Derby does for thoroughbred racing. "It gets people’s attention and interest on natural horsemanship as a whole," he said.
But don’t kid yourself, Cameron and Parelli are playing to win. Both men have multiple decades of colt starting experience under their rodeo buckles and will prove formidable competition to the Australian and Canadian teams.

As young men, Parelli and Cameron came up through the rodeo circuit, riding rough stock, and each developed a deep love for horses. But early on, both men suspected the often violent methods used to "break" young horses was at least ineffective and unnecessary, if not wrong. Cameron and Parelli began their natural horsemanship journeys studying under legendary horseman Ray Hunt and Troy Henry.
"I always tried to work with a horse and not be abusive or rough. It was just an instinct," said Cameron who is a member of the Texas Cowboy Hall of Fame and travels 44 weeks a year educating horse lovers nationwide.
"It’s about love, language and leadership in equal doses," said Parelli who founded a program that now boasts over 200,000 students in 35 countries. "Life is about relationships and it’s pretty hard to beat that formula."
