Pat played with Remmer!

I love the fact that the new Levels programs give students the opportunity to watch Pat with a variety of horses – especially in Levels 3 and 4! It’s great to see him how he manages the different Horsenalities. Some have more go, some have more whoa, and he adjusts subtly to be what they need. There is also a point at which Pat’s horses get so confident and in tune with him that you almost can’t tell what Horsenality they are…unless they are really extreme (Vanna, for example!). That in and of itself is a real testament to the program – it really helps horses get balanced.

 Speaking of Pat playing with different horses…in the Level 4 program, Pat plays with the one and only REMMER, which was especially funny for me! Pat was really ‘on’ and Rem had been relaxing (what he does next best to eating!). So when Remmer came in he was quite at odds to the Quarter Horses Pat had been playing with before him. He’s bigger, he moves slower…until his mind gets engaged.  Many of you have seen that in the demonstrations we’ve done with Introverted horses, especially with Remmer! As soon as he gets on your wavelength, it’s super, but it took a little bit for Remmer and Pat to get on the same page.

 At first Rem looked kind of bumbly and confused.  This was the first time Pat has ever played with Remmer at Liberty (Pat hasn’t really played with him at all) so there were moments when Remmer wasn’t quite sure what Pat was asking for…like when Pat asked him to do a spin.  Rem and I have that down, he knows exactly what I’m asking for and when I’m about to ask it.  Pat asks a little differently though, and it was funny to see Rem’s expression as he faces Pat and then goes, “OH! A spin!” Over the years, I’ve watched Pat playing with different horses all over the world, but many of you haven’t been quite so lucky.  Now you’ll have a little bit of that on the Levels DVDs, and I think it will give you a much more comprehensive learning experience.
