Dear Friends,
As you read in last Thursday’s blog, Janice (Pilates for Dressage) and I had a great visit, and I just wanted to share a few final thoughts on it with you. Janice is such a master of the body, understanding it at a deep level and really knowing what a horse has to do in order to achieve collection, engagement…and for horse and rider to achieve that feeling of harmony and unity when performing. She’s a great teacher too, that’s almost more important to me because she can effectively pass it on.
We rode together almost every day she was here. She has a Right-Brain Introvert that goes Extrovert very quickly, and she’s made super progress with him over the past couple of years doing the Parelli program, but this last two weeks she got even more strategies to help him become more confident and relaxed.
Because I was working on my concept of “The Game of Contact,” I asked her not to talk to me too much about my posture and position because I had to focus on what I was teaching Remmer. But after watching the results with Remmer on the first day, she asked me to help her with her horse on that same subject. As she wrote, it went really well and we’re very excited by the results!
Anyway, once Remmer and I were a little more confident in the contact, I asked her for some tips and, of course, got some beauties. My passage got better, as did my sitting trot, my left turns…and then on the way home yesterday I was doing some passage and she told me to compress my ribs a little more and I almost had piaffe! It was effortless and amazing.
There’s so much to learn! I love this stuff!
Yours Naturally,
Linda
