Just came in from my first session with Goyani here in cold and stormy England! Carmen first of all showed me what she has got going with him and it was very, very good. She's done a super job in developing herself and her horse beyond Level 4 and beginning more focused collection, engagement and dressage maneuvers. I was very impressed :)
I basically wanted to see what she can do with him and what he's capable of so I have an idea of what I'll be able to ask of him myself, when the time is right. Transitions, shortening, lengthening, flying changes and the start of piaffe-passage... very close to where Remmer is actually. What Goyani has going better however is that he is more forward and more naturally flexible than Remmer. He's also smoother so sitting to the trot is a lot easier!
Then it was my turn to hop on and get to know him and him to know me. We had a couple of misunderstandings asking for the canter, but then we got it. Everything else was pretty straight forward and I didn't 'ask much, just wanted to get an initial feel and introduction before getting more into it.
Walter arrives tomorrow. Pat and I will have lunch with Walter and then in the afternoon we'll have a more focused session with Goyani. I'll let you know how it goes, and if it's not too dark (as it was tonight) I'll send a photo too.
More tomorrow!
Yours naturally,
Linda
